The festival of Karwa Chauth is celebrated with utmost enthusiasm by the married Hindu women in India. And, like all other Hindu festivals, Karwa Chauth is also celebrated in a ritualistic way.
On this day, married women fast from sunrise to moonrise for their husband’s longevity. During this period of fasting, a woman is not supposed to drink or eat anything.

Rituals For First Karwa Chauth Celebration
So, if you are going to celebrate your first ever Karwa Chauth with your dear hubby then, you wouldn’t like to skip any ritual to make it special. Right? But, before know about the first Karwa Chauth rituals here.
1. First Sargi
Sargi is the only meal that you will get to eat right before you begin your fast i.e before the sunrise. You will receive your first sargi from your mother-in-law which will be also prepared by her.
The sargi will consist of food, solah shringar, sweets, jewelries, and saree that you will wearing during the Karwa Chauth Puja.
2. First Baya
The Baya is also a gift that you will receive from your mother-in-law on Karwa Chauth. Usually, a Baya consists of mathris, dry fruits, and some other gifts like utensils which you have to distribute to other married women who will join you in your first Karwa Chauth puja.
Also, on the first Baya, the mother of a new bride presents gifts to all the members of her daughter’s new family.
3. First Karwa Chauth Puja And katha
The puja is the most important part of the festival of Karwa Chauth. And, when it’s your first Karwa Chauth, the married women from your locality will also join you in the puja. So, firstly you have clad yourself in jewelries and shaadi ka joda.
Then, you have to put all the solah shringer including mehendi, sindoor, kajal, bangles etc. Then, as per the muhurat, the Karwa Chauth puja starts and women recite or sing legendary stories of Karwa Chauth and mark the celebration of this festival.
4. Breaking Of The Fast After The Moonrise
After the puja and the narration of the Karwa Chauth stories, married women wait for the moon to rise. After the moon rises, married women worship the moon by seeing the moon through a sieve and offer water to the moon.
Then, the same rituals are repeated with the husband. Every wife sees her husband through a sieve and take blessings for him. It’s after the moonrise, when the husband offers water and food to his wife and break her fast.
5. First Karwa Chauth Gift
As per the first Karwa Chauth rituals, the new bride will show her love and care for her husband by keeping the fast, the husband will reciprocate the same with first Karwa Chauth gifts for wife. So, basically this Karwa Chauth ritual remains the same for everyone.
